Daniel M'Allum M.D. - Obituary Minutes of Conference 1827 Page 221

(9.) Daniel M'Allum, M. D.; a young man of extraordinary talents, and of a most amiable and blameless character, both as a private Christian, and a Minister of the Gospel.

He was born at Inverness, June 22d, 1794, and after receiving a liberal'education, partly in Scotland and partly at Kingswood School, was regularly trained for the medical profession, and obtained his degree of M. D. at the Universitv of Glasgow.

Early in life he was truly converted to God; and, in the year 1817 preferring the service of the Lord to the gains of his profession, he devoted himself to the work of the ministry.

He was possessed of a clear understanding and sound judgment, and had a mind well stored with knowledge. He had also an unusual readiness of conception, and facility of utterance. He was indeed a faithful servant of Christ, and an able Minister of the New Testament; a pattern fidelity in the discharge of relative and social duties; and especially worthy of distinction for his dutiful and affectionate attention to his aged father.

During his last illness, which was long and tedious, his mind was kept in a state of great tranquillity and resignation; and he witnessed to the last a good confessipn.

He died July 2nd, 1827, exhibiting in his last moments an eminent illustration of that " peace" which marks the end of the perfect and upright man.

His name will long be cherished in the minds of his brethren with a most affectionate remembrance.
